Season of Renewal

A public, versioned framework for leaving one chapter and finding the next—written while it was happening and revised when reality disagreed.

Public

The idea

Every phase took longer than I planned. The framework had to change to match.

A framework built from inside the experience

Season of Renewal began during a planned break after leaving federal service. It came out of checkpoints, journal entries, plans that changed, and goals I gave up on.

Recovery took longer than planned

The phases stopped being a clean sequence and started overlapping. Building and resting happened at the same time. What I call waymaking, the part where you keep moving without having decided yet what you are, sits after all five of them.

The revisions are the point

The framework is developed in public, in a repository anyone can read. What it shows is a method being used and revised by the person who wrote it. That is the part worth looking at.

What this work demonstrates

Evidence from the work.

  • Written from inside the experience.

The source material spans dated entries from September 2025 through August 2026. The framework was consolidated after the experience had already begun.

  • Revised when reality disagreed.

A clean sequence became overlapping practices. Recovery took longer than planned, building and tending coexisted, and the framework changed to match.

  • Versioned in public.

The repository is public, and its history is part of the record.

  • Adaptable by someone else.

The phases and checkpoints are meant to be lifted and changed by someone else going through a transition of their own.

Public boundary

This is lived practice worked out in public. It is not clinical guidance, it is not finished, and it is not meant to work the same way for everyone.
